Since both countries are part of the CA-4 (Central America Border Control Agreement), if your nationality requires a visa for this zone, you must have one.
You must fill out the online immigration pre-verification form to enter Nicaragua. Ideally, do this at least 7 days in advance, although some sources suggest doing it at least 24 hours before.
Currently, the Government of Nicaragua requires foreigners to submit this request through two main channels:

You should look for the option “Solicitud de Ingreso de Otras Nacionalidades” (Entry Request for Other Nationalities).
Via Official Email (Traditional Route) The official channel to send the request is through the following email addresses: solicitudes@migob.gob.nipreyes@migob.gob.ni
Submission Deadline: It is recommended to send this form at least 7 days before your arrival date.
Minimum Timeframe: Although 7 days is the standard, some sources indicate you can do it with a minimum of 48 to 24 hours’ notice. However, this may result in a slower process or additional fees at the border. The sooner you do it, the better!
Proper Footwear: You will likely have to get your feet wet when boarding or disembarking in Potosí, so bring sandals or shoes that can get wet.
Sun Protection: Bring a hat, sunglasses, and high-factor sunscreen. The journey across the gulf is in an open boat, and the sun can be intense.
